screen-shot-2016-12-09-at-12-32-31-pmI know winter is coming because the temperatures are dropping, the cold wind is blowing, and my face is starting to get tight. Don’t get me wrong, I think winter is a beautiful season, but being a California girl, I rather be at the beach than build a snowman. I recently moved back to New York City and I have found beauty products to keep my hair and skin moist. I have been focusing on my hair  a lot because my scalp tends to get dry. I’m used to wearing braids during the spring and summer, but I asked my myself “What’s wrong with wearing braids in the fall and winter ?”. Anyways, I asked my hairstylist if she knew any hair braiders and she did. I wanted my  braids to be long, unique, and fabulous and that is exactly what I got. The cornrow pattern is so cool, I don’t know how to describe  them, so I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. My scalp is exposed during the cold weather, so it is important that I wear a beanie, hat or scarf around my head when I go out. The best thing about having cornrows/braids in the cold is that I have easy access when it comes to moisturizing my scalp. It is so important that I give my scalp a lot of attention. Braids help my hair grow, but a healthy scalp helps my hair grow even faster. I’ve learned that braids are not a seasonal style for me, they are a style I can wear any day and everyday.

Growing up, I spent  a lot of time in Kingston, Jamaica. When summer time came around, my mother sent my brother and I to Jamaica to spend time with our grandmother, Ivy Ralph. My mother wanted to make sure that we knew our roots and where we came from. My grandmother LOVES to make pasta with meatballs for me, even until this day. She has many famous dishes like, macaroni and cheese, ice tea, oxtail, jerk chicken, and my favorite, meatballs. Since my grandmother has her famous dishes, I’ve decided to create my own dish inspired by my culture and my grandmother, called Jerk Chicken Pasta.

What you’ll need:

Spaghetti (I prefer wheat)

Walkerswood jerk seasoning

BBQ Sauce

Pasta Sauce

2 Frying pans

Pasta Dish (for serving)

I hope I’m not the only one that feels this way, but I LOVE a good red outfit. Red is such a firey, spicy, and infectious color. No matter where I go, if I am wearing red, I know all eyes will be on me or near me, haha. The color has the power to captivate people, while remaining classy. I have no problem being the lady in red.

At this years most recent New York fashion week, I had the ultimate pleasure to attend the SS17 fashion show of the fabulous designer, Tadashi Shoji. I love Tadashi’s work because his clothing accentuates the shape of a curvy girl along with other shapes as well. He designed my first gown when I was 6 years old and till this day, his designs know how to make me feel like a Queen. If you’re like me, I enjoy balling on a budget. I’m not afraid to say that I can’t afford everything on the runways, well at least for the time being, but I can afford some of the look-a-like outfits that know how give someone a fever. During Tadashi’s  show, I fell in love with a stunning red 2 piece pant suit and I found an outfit VERY similar on the website of the UK clothing store, Virgos Lounge.

With the holiday season here, it is time to put your best foot forward (as always), and spice up your life with reds, greens, and golds. The holiday season is the perfect time to add color in your wardrobe. Color has this magical power of making you feel fun, young, and most importantly FABULOUS. Don’t be afraid to be daring this season. Ladies rock the low cut dress and feel sexy or Guys rock that white suit jacket that has been hanging in your closet that you have never worn. Always remember to keep it sexy but sophisticated at the same time. Holidays are about being with the ones you love, creating life long memories, and having good cheer. Spread your joy with smiles and express your sense of style with class. You can never go wrong with stepping out your comfort zone just a little bit. Be a fierce flame of fire that lights up the whole room this year, you can’t go wrong making others feel merry and bright. To all my holiday lovers, love yourself and your family throughout the holidays and the year, but show your friends, family, and guests that you now how to really create a silent night, surprising them with a snow stopping outfit.

You know when it starts to get chilly outside it’s time to bring out the dark lips. To me, dark lips depict warmth, and dark colors make your lips look bigger and more plump. On Tuesday, I decided to dress up and head over to Marble Arch, here in Central London. It was lovely to see a new part of London filled with beautiful faces, and faces that wouldn’t stop staring and taking pictures of me while I took pictures for my blog(LOL). Spectators were so surprised that I was taking pictures, I mean what can I say? London is an amazing city how could I not take pictures? haha. I had to be bold.

This fall be bold, not just with you lip makeup, but with yourself. When people stare you have to be confident with yourself and just smile back. Also, you never know what people are thinking of you when they stare. Whether it’s negative or positive, it shouldn’t affect you, because you are living for yourself not others. Also, be bold with your wardrobe. Fall is the perfect time to rock warm colors, pastels, and great statement pieces. Utilize your color palette and discover new colors that compliment your skin tone and make you feel like one of a kind.
