Today marks 29 days until my college graduation. It’s so crazy that in almost less than a month I can say that I’m 20 years old and I’ve graduated college. As I get older, I start to realize why my parents always said ” Baby, stay young, don’t grow up too fast!”.  Adult life is about to become bitter sweet for me. Bitter meaning I’m going miss the great people I’ve met in college and the amazing naps I have taken. I value my sleep as I get older, naps can truly be a life saver in college, I used them to recharge. Wow! I’m really going to miss napping. LOL! But it will be sweet because adulthood is a new chapter and I will continue to meet new and great people in the years to come. I will travel the world and see all the monuments and gorgeous places I’ve never been.

As I continue to grow and shed old skin, I realize that the future is always exciting. It can have its ups and downs but something new can always evolve. I’m excited to see what my future holds and I know as I continue to get closer with God and myself, my directions are clears. Change is great and it will allow me to be outside of my comfort zones. As my future grows, my hair does too, and having hair is a beautiful thing. I’ve learned that I love having curly hair, its a lot of work, but its fun. I feel so natural and free and that’s how my life will be. Full of freedom, fun and bounce, just like my hair. I’m excited to see what God has in store for me and what I have to accomplish!

 We all know Spring is here, and that’s when hair starts to become lighter, skin gets darker, and bodies get toned. I love Spring because it is full of bright colors, sunshine, and smiling faces. When Spring comes around, everyone wants to achieve the perfect “Spring Break Body”, or for others that aren’t in school, they probably just want to tone up or lose weight for beach attire. But I feel once Spring and Summer leaves, everyone just flings their passion for working out, out the door. I have been playing sports since I was 8 years old, so fitness is entirely fun for me. I love pushing myself in the weight room and since I am from Los Angeles, I love running in the sunshine. It’s so important that as we get older we learn how to care of our bodies. Once we hit college and begin our sweet and sour lives of adulthood, extra weight is easy to carry on without noticing.

Since, I have played basketball, volleyball, and ran track, fitness is different for me compared to others. Growing up, I was a late bloomer, and I carried a lot of weight up until I was 15, so playing sports was part of my way to lose weight and stay healthy. You don’t have to force yourself to like fitness, just stay active. Long walks are nice during the Spring and Summer and they are even better when someone is walking with you. Look for objects in your everyday life, around the house, that are heavy enough to lift, and pretend you are lifting weights. Just remember, don’t hurt yourself or strain any muscles, lol. If you have stairs in your home, you can do some stair steps and it will definitely help your leg muscles. When I’m lazy and I don’t feel like going to the gym, I stay active by throwing on a workout video from YouTube, that focuses on my abs or my legs. Lastly, stay hydrated, when we are in our beast mode, we can stray away from hydration and it is very important. You don’t want to end up with cramps, a headache, or passing out. Don’t fling your Spring and Summer fitness habits away, keep them all year around because it will make you feel better about yourself and your health.
